Parking place with waterfall

You'll stumble upon this one almost by accident - a layby on the road near Kinlochleven where a waterfall tumbles dramatically down the mountainside right next to where you've parked the car. It's the kind of spot that makes you think 'well, that's handy' and worth pulling over for, especially if you're driving through the Highlands and need to stretch your legs without committing to a proper walk.

The waterfall itself is genuinely impressive after decent rainfall, crashing down in stages with a real force to it. On a clear day the light catches the spray nicely, and it's photogenic enough that you'll see why folk bother stopping. The whole thing takes maybe fifteen minutes if you just want a look and a few pictures - you're not scrambling anywhere or following marked trails.

It's most worthwhile for drivers doing the West Highland route who want a quick break without losing momentum. The dramatic Highland landscape around Kinlochleven means there's always something worth photographing here, though frankly if you're camping at Red Squirrel just down the road, you'll find better woodland walks from your pitch that take more advantage of the area.

There's no visitor infrastructure and it's completely free - just pull in, have a gander, and crack on. After rain it's at its best. If you're staying at one of the nearby campsites and the weather's turning, this is a five-minute diversion that'll give you the Highland drama you came for without the commitment of a full day out.
