Park Dynevor

The Afon Loughor cuts through woodland here, and you'll spot it immediately as you enter Park Dynevor - a proper tangle of native trees and riverside walks that feels genuinely wild despite sitting just outside Ammanford. There's something refreshing about a nature reserve that hasn't been over-manicured; the paths wind through ancient woodland without that visitor-centre polish some places try too hard for.

You can walk the riverbank trails without paying anything, which is the main draw. Allow a good two hours if you want to do the loops properly - it's not a quick lap. Families with older kids will get the most from it; the ground gets muddy and there are tree roots to watch for, so toddlers might find it trickier than a groomed park trail. Walkers and birdwatchers will absolutely rate it though. Spring and early autumn are best, when you'll hear more wildlife and the riverside is at its most appealing.

The location works well alongside the holiday parks nearby - Gelli Glamping and Cosmos Camping are both within five miles, so you can combine this with a glamping weekend without travelling far. It's the sort of place where you actually feel like you've stepped away from things, which counts for a lot when you're based in a caravan a stone's throw from the main road.
