Parc-y-rhedyn Wood

The woodland paths at Parc-y-rhedyn Wood wind through dense tree cover just outside Cardigan, offering a proper escape from the coast if you've had enough of sand and chip shops. It's the kind of place where you'll actually hear yourself think - birdsong, rustling leaves, the occasional crunch of boot on forest floor. The walks aren't particularly demanding, which is either a bonus or a bore depending on what you're after.

This spot works well for families who want their kids to burn off energy without needing a destination at the end of it all. Walkers doing a longer loop around the area will find it a useful break from open moorland, and it's genuinely pleasant if you're dodging rain - the canopy does its job. You won't find interpretive boards or facilities, so go in knowing it's just you, the trees, and whatever the weather throws at you.

If you're based at Cardigan Camping and Touring Caravan Site or Happy Campers Family Park nearby, it's an easy morning before you head down to Cardigan itself or push on to the Teifi Estuary. Worth a couple of hours, not worth rearranging your itinerary for. The real value is in how accessible it is from the holiday parks in the area - close enough that you're not spending half your time driving, far enough into the trees that you actually feel removed from things.
