The walk up Parc-Y-Pratt rewards you with a proper vantage point across Cardigan Bay and the Pembrokeshire coastline - the sort of view that justifies an afternoon's rambling around these hills. It's a modest peak by most standards, but the approach from Cardigan is straightforward enough, and once you're up there the land drops away in all directions with a real sense of being somewhere.

You'll find walkers and the occasional photographer here, people after honest views rather than Instagram drama. On a clear day you can pick out the curve of the bay towards New Quay and spot how the landscape folds. The walk takes a couple of hours there and back depending on your pace and where you start from - locals seem to favour approaches from around Cardigan itself.

It works well as part of a broader Pembrokeshire Coast walk rather than a dedicated trip. If you're based at one of the camping spots nearby - Cardigan Camping and Touring is barely a mile away, or push towards Mwnt Camping if you want something closer to the water - you can tack this onto a coastal afternoon without much fuss. The ground underfoot is typical upland Wales: muddy in patches, firm where it counts.

Families with older kids who don't mind a proper walk will get something from it. Younger children might find the ascent tedious for what amounts to fields and sky at the top. Free to visit, obviously - just turn up.
