Owlet Hill

The walk up Owlet Hill from Stanley takes about twenty minutes if you're not dawdling, and the effort pays off with proper views across Tyne and Wear. It's not a dramatic summit - nothing like the Pennines further west - but on a clear day you can see a fair distance, which matters when you're stuck in the lowlands of the North East.

This is a walker's spot rather than a destination in itself. Families with young kids might find the climb a bit much, but anyone comfortable on their feet will manage it fine.
