Organic Forms is a gallery that punches well above its weight for a spot near Fakenham. The space focuses on contemporary work with a particular lean towards abstraction and sculpture, the kind of place you wander into expecting fifteen minutes and somehow lose an hour. The gallery itself feels properly curated rather than thrown together - there's real thought in what's on the walls and how it's displayed.

It's the kind of destination that appeals to art types and anyone with more than a passing interest in modern work, though families with older kids who aren't allergic to galleries might find it worthwhile too. Young children will almost certainly get restless fast, mind. The real draw is that it takes the pressure off a Norfolk coast holiday if you need a break from the beach or fancy something indoors during one of those grey afternoons.

Fakenham itself is a proper market town with decent pubs and shops, so you can easily string together a half-day. If you're camping or glamping nearby - Norfolk Coast Caravans and Camping is barely a mile away, or there's Old Brick Kilns if you fancy something a touch further out - this works as a good rainy-day option. The glamping sites further afield at Wild Meadow or North Norfolk offer a more upmarket experience if you want to push the boat out.

Worth checking opening hours before you visit, as smaller galleries can be a bit fluid. But if contemporary art is your thing and you're in the area, it's absolutely a detour worth making.
