Odin's Cave

Scrambling along the rocky coastline near Oxwich Bay, you'll spot a dark cleft in the limestone cliffs that locals call Odin's Cave. This sea cave carves deep into the headland, creating a dramatic natural archway that frames views across the Gower Peninsula's wild coastline. The cave itself isn't particularly large, but its position makes it a proper photographer's dream.

Getting there requires a bit of coastal walking from Oxwich village, following the Wales Coast Path eastward. The path can get slippery when wet, so decent walking boots are essential. Families with older children will manage fine, though toddlers might struggle with the uneven terrain.

Timing matters here. Low tide offers the best access to explore the cave entrance safely, while high tide creates more dramatic wave action for photos. Early morning light catches the cave opening beautifully, casting long shadows across the water.

If you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Three Cliffs Bay or Oxwich Camping Park, this makes an excellent short adventure. The cave sits perfectly between Oxwich Bay and Three Cliffs Bay, so you can easily combine it with beach time at either location. Allow about an hour for the round trip from Oxwich village, longer if you fancy exploring the surrounding rock pools and coastal scenery.
