Bath's Odeon sits right in the city centre, and it's the obvious choice when you want to catch a film without traipsing miles out of town. The multiplex shows mainstream releases across several screens - the usual blockbusters, superhero franchises, and the occasional decent drama if you're lucky. It's comfortable enough, prices are what you'd expect for a chain cinema, and the popcorn is properly overpriced but that's half the fun.

Really, this works best as a rainy-afternoon fallback during a park holiday rather than a destination in itself. If you're staying at Bath Mill Lodge Retreat or Campwell Farm and the weather turns grim, it's an easy escape. Kids will be fine for two hours, though you'll want to pick something engaging - anything slower-paced and they'll be fidgeting within thirty minutes.

Get there early for decent seats if you're seeing something popular, and check the schedule online before you go because there's nothing worse than pitching up only to find you've missed the last showing. The city location means parking nearby is a pain, so walk from your accommodation if you can. It's a solid, functional cinema - exactly what it says on the tin. Not somewhere you'd plan a trip around, but certainly worth knowing about when you need an indoor activity and the Avon's looking grey.
