About Northway Wood
It's walkers' territory, really. Nothing dramatic, no viewpoints or dramatic geological features - just decent woodland walking within striking distance of Shrewsbury town centre. The sort of place you'd spend an hour or so if you're based nearby, rather than plan a special trip for. If you're staying at one of the camping parks dotted around - Mill Farm is barely two miles away, or Spring Field if you fancy the eco-camping angle - it's a straightforward leg-stretch on your doorstep.
Kids who like building dens and spotting birds will find it fine. Those expecting a destination attraction will find it lacks the infrastructure and pizzazz. There's no café, no visitor centre, no clear signage that I could find. Part of its charm, perhaps, is that it feels more like stumbling onto someone's local than visiting an official attraction.
Free access, as far as I can tell, and open year-round. Spring's lovely here when the woodland floor comes alive. Worth an hour's wander if you're in the area and after something low-key.
