National Space Centre Coach Parking

The National Space Centre sits just outside Leicester, and if you're arriving by coach - which most school groups and larger parties do - there's dedicated parking that actually works. That's rarer than you'd think at major attractions. Once you've parked, you're walking into one of the Midlands' more substantial museums, where the real draw is the stuff that actually went into space. Real rockets, real spacecraft, genuine artefacts that astronauts have touched. It's not a gimmick venue.

You'll spend a good two to three hours here properly exploring, longer if you've got kids who want to do the interactive bits or watch the planetarium shows. Families with primary school age children will get the most from it - there's enough hands-on activity to stop them getting bored, but it's serious enough that teenagers won't feel patronised. Adults interested in space exploration and engineering will find proper detail in the exhibits.

Admission isn't free, but it's reasonable value for what you get. The planetarium shows cost extra but are genuinely worth it if you're into that sort of thing. Go on a weekday if possible - weekends get rammed with school parties, which rather defeats the purpose.

If you're basing yourself at Village Farm Getaway or Meadow Farm Marina nearby, it's an easy 15-minute drive in. Both parks are solid choices for a Leicestershire break. The Space Centre works well as a half-day activity, leaving you time for Leicester town centre in the afternoon.
