The Museum of Lincolnshire Life sits right in Lincoln and tells the story of ordinary folk going about their business over the past couple of centuries. You'll find yourself wandering through reconstructed period rooms, farmhouse kitchens, blacksmith's workshops - all the bits that made rural Lincolnshire tick. The agricultural exhibits are genuinely interesting, especially if you've got any connection to farming, and the domestic displays give you a real sense of how people actually lived rather than how we imagine they did.

It's a proper old-school museum in the best way. No fancy interactive nonsense, just good solid artefacts and rooms that feel lived-in. Kids might find it a bit slow unless they're really into that sort of thing, but anyone interested in social history or wanting to understand the region's roots will get a good couple of hours out of it. Walkers doing the Lincoln circuit will appreciate the central location.

If you're basing yourself at Hartsholme Country Park or South Cliff Caravan Site - both within easy reach - this makes a sensible rainy-day option or a quieter morning before heading out elsewhere. The admission's reasonable enough, and the staff actually know what they're talking about. Allow at least an hour and a half, longer if you're the type to read every label.
