Moss Farm Road Stone Circle

The standing stones at Moss Farm Road sit on a windswept bit of moorland that feels properly removed from anywhere else. You'll find five stones arranged in a rough circle - nothing towering or dramatic, but there's something about the isolation that gets to you. They're Bronze Age, so we're talking 4,000 years of people walking past this same patch of ground.

It's a brief stop rather than a destination in itself. Most visitors spend twenty minutes circling the stones, taking photos from different angles, maybe having a quiet think about whoever put them there in the first place. The views across to the Firth are decent enough, and on a clear day you can pick out features across the water.

Walkers get the most from it - it's the sort of place that works brilliantly as a waypoint on a longer ramble rather than an end in itself.
