Monkey Haven - Primate Rescue Centre

Howler monkeys calling across the treetops announce your arrival at this proper rescue centre just outside Newport. Monkey Haven takes in primates that can't be released into the wild - ex-circus performers, former pets, and breeding animals from closed facilities. You'll meet South American monkeys swinging through purpose-built enclosures, plus meerkats, wallabies, and other rescued creatures who've found sanctuary here.

Families get the most from a visit, especially if the kids are mad about animals. The keeper talks happen throughout the day and give you the real stories behind each rescue - some heartbreaking, others surprisingly uplifting. Allow at least two hours to see everything properly and catch one of the feeding sessions.
