Based at Eastwood End Caravan Park - about a mile and a half out - you're well-positioned for exploring both the industrial heritage and the moorland edges beyond. Winter's a good time to visit when the trees are bare and you can see the landscape's bones more clearly. Bring proper boots; the ground gets boggy around the old workings.
