Millgrove Plantation

Millgrove Plantation is a proper woodland walk just outside Worcester - the sort of place locals know about but visitors often miss. It's not massive, but the trees are mature and there's a genuine sense of escaping the town without actually going far. You get a decent walk among the woodland, nothing too strenuous, and if you're lucky you'll spot deer browsing between the conifers and broadleaves.

The plantation works best for people who enjoy a straightforward forest ramble. History buffs won't find much to latch onto here - it's just good, honest woodland. Families with young kids will manage fine if they're up for a mile or so on foot, though there's no playground or picnic facilities to speak of. Birdwatchers might find it worth an hour, particularly in spring when things are nesting.

It slots nicely into a park-based holiday around Worcester. If you're staying at The Wharf Caravan Park or any of the other sites within five miles - Mill House, Twin Oaks, or Lenchford Meadow - Millgrove gives you an easy morning outing without needing to drive far. Combine it with a walk into Worcester itself or a potter around the Severn and you've got a solid day.

Access and facilities aren't entirely clear from afar, so ring ahead or ask at your caravan park. Go on a weekday if you can. Weekends bring a few more visitors and it's the sort of place where peace of mind matters.
