Miller's Wood

The walk through Miller's Wood is quiet in a way that feels properly restorative. You're deep among tall conifers and broadleaves, with the forest floor soft underfoot and light filtering through in that particular way that makes you want to slow down. The trees here aren't ancient - this is managed woodland - but there's something satisfying about how well established it all feels.

It's the kind of place walkers gravitate toward rather than families hunting for an afternoon's entertainment. The paths are decent but not manicured, and there's enough woodland to get genuinely lost in if you're not paying attention. Allow a couple of hours for a proper explore, though you can do a shorter circuit in forty minutes if you're pressed for time.

Situated near the A590, Miller's Wood works well as a morning walk before heading elsewhere - it's close enough to the coast that you could combine it with a seaside afternoon. Go on a clear day if possible. Wet weather turns the paths to mush, and the forest doesn't really sing when everything's grey and dripping.
