The Medway Yacht Club sits right on the water near Aylesford, a proper working marina rather than a tourist attraction per se. If you're expecting a visitor centre with interpretive displays, you'll be disappointed - this is genuinely a club for sailors, with boats moored along the river and the hum of nautical activity year-round.

That said, it's worth a walk-past if you're staying nearby, particularly at Thamesview Camping just down the road. The riverside setting has real charm, and on a decent day watching the boats bob about and the water traffic is oddly soothing. You'll get a feel for the Medway as a working waterway, not just a picturesque backdrop.

Unless you're a sailor yourself or keen to understand local maritime culture, you won't spend more than twenty minutes here. The club isn't really set up for casual visitors - this isn't a ticketed experience. But if you're camping in the area and fancy a riverside stroll, it's a genuine bit of Essex life that beats another tour of a heritage property.

Best visited on a weekend when there's activity on the water, and ideally when the weather's decent. The walk from Thamesview Camping is manageable and gives you a proper sense of the landscape. Don't expect facilities for visitors - this is a working marina for members.
