Meall Odhar

Meall Odhar sits at 901 metres on the eastern edge of the Grampians, a proper Perthshire hill that rewards the climb without demanding too much of you. The walk starts near Blairgowrie and takes roughly two to three hours up, depending on your fitness and how often you stop to catch your breath. What makes it worth the effort is the view from the top - on a clear day, you're looking across to the Cairngorms, down the glens, and over towards the North Sea. The hill itself is moorland and grassland, straightforward walking rather than scrambling, which makes it accessible to anyone with reasonable legs and the right kit.

Seriously, don't underestimate the weather up here. The Grampians can turn on you in minutes, and Meall Odhar is exposed. Go in decent conditions and you'll have a brilliant outing. Families with older kids will manage it fine - younger ones might find it a slog on the way back when legs get tired. Walkers serious about ticking off hills will appreciate that it's a solid day out without being overwhelming.

There's no visitor centre or facilities at the summit, so bring water and snacks.
