Mcclay Park

About 5 miles outside Omagh lies McClay Park, a nature reserve that punches well above its weight for somewhere so tucked away. You're walking through proper woodland here - tall trees, proper quiet, the sort of place where you actually notice birdsong instead of traffic noise.

It's a straightforward reserve rather than somewhere with visitor facilities or marked attractions. What you get is access to woodland trails where you can wander at your own pace, spot whatever wildlife's about, and genuinely breathe. Walkers will find it solid for a couple of hours, and families with kids who don't need a gift shop at the end will be fine here too. The trails aren't taxing - more of a gentle ramble than a proper hike.

If you're staying at Gortin Glen Glamping nearby, this is well worth the short drive over. It breaks up the glamping experience nicely if you want to get out and move about without travelling far. The reserve works best in spring and autumn when the woodland actually feels alive, though winter walks have their own appeal if you don't mind the damp.

There's no entry fee as far as I can tell, and no set opening hours - it's the kind of place you turn up and explore. Bring waterproofs. The ground gets boggy in places, and this is Fermanagh after all. Allow a couple of hours if you're being thorough, less if you just want a quick potter about.
