Kids from about eight upwards can usually have a go, though you'll want to check their current age limits and height restrictions before turning up. The outdoor setting means weather plays a part - brilliant on a crisp winter morning, less appealing in driving rain. Sessions typically run for 15-20 minutes once you factor in the safety briefing.

Families staying at nearby Forest Edge Holiday Park or Oakdene Forest Park will find this makes a cracking afternoon out, especially if the weather's turned against beach plans. It's proper karting rather than the tame electric versions you get at some family centres - these machines have a decent turn of speed that'll get the adrenaline pumping.

The location works well with a New Forest holiday base. You're close enough to Holmsley Campsite and the other forest sites to make it a worthwhile detour, and it's different enough from the usual forest walks and pony spotting to break up the week nicely.
