Tucked away near Bridlington, Marlborough Garden is a proper slice of East Yorkshire's natural heritage - a modest nature reserve that punches above its weight if you know what you're looking for. It's the sort of place where you'll spot nesting birds, wild plants thriving in their own rhythm, and the occasional surprise visitor if you're patient enough to wait.

The reserve works best for keen birdwatchers and anyone serious about spotting local wildlife. Casual strollers might find twenty minutes enough; dedicated naturalists could easily spend a couple of hours here. The paths are manageable, though not exactly manicured - which is rather the point. You're visiting someone else's home, not a municipal display.

If you're based at Parkdean Resorts Barmston Beach or Seaside Caravan Park, this makes a decent morning diversion before heading back to the beach or doing something else. It's near enough to combine with a Bridlington visit without eating up the whole day. The reserve is free to access, which means you've got nothing to lose by giving it a go.

Go early in the day, especially during spring and autumn migration periods, when bird activity peaks. The light's better then anyway. Bring binoculars if you've got them - it'll transform what might otherwise feel like a quiet walk into something genuinely rewarding.
