Luss Activity Hub

The Activity Hub at Luss is basically the village's answer to keeping you occupied if the Scottish weather turns dreich. It's down on the waterfront where Loch Lomond laps at the shore, and the setup is straightforward - water sports, outdoor activities, the usual suspects for a spot that's got water on its doorstep.

What you're really getting here is access to the loch itself. Kayaking and paddle-boarding are the main draws, though there's also fishing if you're into that sort of thing. The hub sits in the middle of proper Ben Lomond walking country, so it works well if you want to break up a hiking trip with something on the water. You can see why families stop by - kids get bored stiff on a long walk, so an hour messing about with paddles tends to fix that.

Locally, you're surrounded by decent enough spots. Milarrochy Bay Camping and Caravanning Club Site is barely three miles away and rates brilliantly - same goes for Inverbeg Holiday Park, which is about three and a half miles off. Both make sensible bases if you're doing a longer stint in the area.

Timing-wise, summer is obviously best. You'll want a full afternoon if you're hiring kit and doing a proper session, though dropping in for an hour is perfectly doable. Fair warning though - it's not a full-on theme park situation. It's functional, honest, and does what it says on the tin. If you're after window dressing, you'll be disappointed. If you just want to get on the water without faffing about, it works.
