It's decent for walkers who enjoy a gentle couple of hours on foot without drama. The trail itself is straightforward, well-marked, and you can do it in under two hours depending on how often you stop to look at birds or let the kids scramble about on the slopes. History types will find something here too - the land shows signs of old land management, chalk pits, that sort of thing - though you won't find explanatory boards spelling it all out. You've got to read the landscape yourself.

Nearby Salisbury gives you food and facilities within walking distance, and there are several caravan parks close by if you're basing yourselves locally - Coombe Caravan Park sits just a mile away, making this an easy morning or afternoon sortie from your pitch. Free access appears standard for this type of reserve, though it's worth checking locally before you go.

The main thing: don't expect drama or monuments. This is about the walk itself and the space to breathe. On a clear day when the light hits the chalk properly, it's worth the trip. In drizzle, less so.
