Lockey Farm sits on the outskirts of Wokingham, a working agricultural enterprise that's been part of the local landscape for generations. It's the sort of place you'd stumble upon while walking the country lanes rather than actively seek out, though once you know it's there, it makes for a solid half-hour detour if you're staying nearby.

What actually happens here depends on the season and what the farm's doing on the day you visit. It's primarily a functioning farm rather than a theme park with rides and attractions, so manage expectations accordingly. You get a genuine sense of rural life in the South East - proper working farm, not a twee recreation. If you've got kids, they'll enjoy seeing the animals and getting a feel for how food actually gets produced, though it's not the sort of place they'll be entertained for hours on end.

The farm works well as part of a broader park holiday in the area. Wellington Country Park, just 3.6 miles away and rated significantly higher, offers proper lake walks and woodland trails if you need something more structured. California Chalet & Touring Park is closer at 2.1 miles if you're based there and want a quick outing that doesn't require getting in the car.

Best visited on a clear day when you can actually see what's happening in the fields. Spring and early summer are ideal - lambing season and growing crops make it more visually interesting than a rain-soaked November afternoon.
