Lochter sits quietly in the rolling farmland west of Inverurie, a modest freshwater loch that doesn't shout about itself. This isn't one of those dramatic Highland lochs you see on postcards - it's smaller, more intimate, the kind of place locals know and visitors often miss.

You'll find it decent for a walk, particularly if you're based at Glamping Bothie nearby. The shoreline offers some gentle paths, and on a clear day the water reflects the surrounding countryside in that soft way Scottish landscapes do. It's popular with birdwatchers - cormorants, grebes, and wildfowl work the water regularly. The real charm is the quietness. You won't fight crowds here.

Unless you're keen on fishing or serious about spotting particular species, an hour's wander around the loch is plenty. It's not a destination in itself, but rather a pleasant interlude if you're touring the area around Inverurie. The countryside hereabouts - Aberdeenshire farmland - has its own understated appeal without being dramatic.

If you're staying at Glamping Bothie, it's well worth the short drive over for a morning walk. Bring binoculars if you care about birds, and go when light is soft - early morning or late afternoon. The loch can feel a bit bleak on grey days, so don't expect it to shine if the weather turns. No visitor facilities that I could find, so plan accordingly.
