Lochan Sgeireach

A small loch tucked into the Highland landscape near Gairloch, Lochan Sgeireach is the sort of place you stumble upon rather than plan for. Lochan Sgeireach suits walkers and nature types more than thrill-seekers. There's no facilities, no cafe, no drama - just water, moorland, and the sound of the wind. Go on a clear day if you want the reflections; go on a moody day if you want atmosphere. Both work.

It pairs nicely with a stay at Sands Caravan & Camping, just a few miles away near Gairloch. That coastal area has enough going on - beaches, decent shops, proper restaurants - that you won't feel marooned if the weather turns. But Lochan Sgeireach itself is best as a half-day escape, somewhere to get properly away from the park without heading far.
