Loch Lomond Sailing Club

The sailing club sits right on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, about half an hour north of Glasgow, and it's genuinely worth stopping by if you're staying at any of the nearby parks. You won't be racing dinghies yourself unless you're a member, but the waterfront setting is proper lovely - you get unobstructed views across the loch to the Ben Lomond massif beyond, and there's something quite meditative about watching the water and the occasional boat activity.

What makes it worth the detour is the location itself. The club occupies a prime spot that most casual visitors miss because they're rushing between attractions. It's the kind of place where you can park up, grab a coffee if they're selling one, and just sit for twenty minutes watching the light change on the water. On a clear day the vista across to the western shore is exceptional.

If you're staying at Milarrochy Bay - which is basically on your doorstep, less than a fifth of a mile away - you've got no excuse not to have a wander over. The Inverbeg and Arcadia sites are a short drive, making this an easy addition to a morning or late afternoon outing. Walkers heading up Ben Lomond often pass through here, so it works well as a warm-up or cool-down spot.

The club itself is members-only for sailing, so there's no sailing for casual visitors, but the public access to the waterfront appears unrestricted. Go for the views and the peace rather than expecting facilities or activity. Thirty minutes is realistic; an hour if you bring a book.
