Loch Leisgein

The water here is dark and still, ringed by steep hills that rise without warning from the shoreline. Loch Leisgein sits in proper isolation - not on any main route, which means you'll have the place largely to yourself. It's the kind of loch that rewards a detour rather than demanding one.

You can walk the shoreline on rough paths, though the terrain is boggy in places and the going's slow. The hills flanking it are dramatic enough to warrant the effort, especially on a clear day when you can pick out the contours across the water. It's not a destination that'll keep you occupied for hours - more a proper spot for a walk, a sit-down with a thermos, and a good look around. Wildlife watchers might spot golden eagles or red deer if they're patient.

The nearest town is Ardgay, a quiet settlement a few miles south, which makes this a natural fit if you're exploring the wider Glen area. There's no visitor infrastructure here, so bring what you need.
