You won't find this on most holiday itineraries, but Llangollen Library is genuinely worth a stop if you're based nearby - particularly if the Welsh weather has turned and you need somewhere warm and dry. It's a proper community space housed in a Victorian-era building that actually feels lived-in, not sterile like some libraries do.

The collection focuses heavily on local history and Welsh interest, which matters if you're trying to understand the area properly. There's a decent section on Llangollen itself - the town just over the border in Wales, about six miles from Wrexham - so you can swot up on the area before exploring the aqueduct or the riverside walks. The staff know their stuff and aren't the type to shush you for breathing too loudly.

It's free, naturally, and you can easily spend an hour browsing without pressure. Kids might find the children's section adequate but nothing spectacular - don't expect it to rival a major city library. Teenagers after computers or study space will get more from it than young families wanting activities.

If you're staying at Foxtail Holiday Park, it's a reasonable drive if you're after a rainy afternoon escape. Pair it with a walk along the Dee Valley or a trip into Wrexham proper rather than making it your main event. The real draw of this area is outdoors - the library is more a useful supplement than a destination in itself.
