Llandybie Parish Church

The church sits quietly on the edge of Llandybie, a village in Carmarthenshire that most people pass through without stopping. It's a proper old Welsh parish church - the sort of place where you can actually feel the weight of centuries without anyone trying too hard to sell it to you.

Inside, the stone walls are solid and the light comes through in that particular way that medieval churches have. There's medieval work here, though much of what you see has been touched up over the centuries - as churches tend to be. If you're based at one of the nearby glamping spots or Llandyfan Camping just down the road, it makes a decent gentle ramble to work into a morning or late afternoon. Ammanford is close by for supplies and a proper cup of tea afterwards. The real draw here is that it feels untouched by the sort of heritage tourism that's colonised bigger churches. You get the genuine article.
