Little Molunan

Little Molunan is a proper tucked-away beach just outside Truro, the sort of place locals know and visitors miss entirely. It's a small cove with golden sand backed by low cliffs, nothing grand or famous, but that's rather the point. You get genuine peace here - no donkey rides, no amusement arcades, just the Cornish coast as it actually is.

The beach itself is fine for swimming when the tide permits, though check conditions first. It's handy for families who want a quieter alternative to the busier strands further west. Older kids won't find much in the way of activities beyond paddling and sandcastle work, so manage expectations accordingly. Adults after a coastal walk will appreciate the cliff paths nearby, and the light is lovely in late afternoon.

There's no infrastructure to speak of - bring what you need. Parking is limited and can get tight on decent days, so arriving early beats turning up at midday. Allow an hour or two depending on whether you're just swimming or doing the longer coastal route.

If you're based at Trethem Mill Touring Park, Little Molunan makes a solid morning outing before heading inland or along the coast towards bigger draws. It won't blow your mind, but it's the sort of unremarkable Cornish beach that sticks with you after the holiday ends.
