Little Law

Little Law is a modest peak that rises just outside Perth, offering the sort of straightforward hill walk that rewards you with proper views across Perthshire without requiring technical gear or a full day's commitment. The summit sits at around 1,000 feet, and you get clear sightlines down to the Tay Valley and beyond - on a decent day, you can pick out the distant hills that frame the region.

The walk itself takes most people between 90 minutes and two hours there and back, depending on fitness and how long you linger at the top. It's popular with local walkers rather than tourists, which means the path is well-trodden but rarely crowded. Families with older kids will manage it fine; younger ones might find the final push a bit of a slog, though nothing dangerous or steep enough to put off reasonably active children.

There's no visitor infrastructure to speak of - no café, no car park with facilities - so come prepared with water and something to eat. Free to access, naturally. The best time is autumn, when the light quality is gorgeous and the midges have calmed down.
