Linn Hill

The walk up Linn Hill rewards you with proper views across the Tay Valley - nothing too demanding, which is exactly why it works so well as a half-day outing from Perth. The summit sits at a decent height without requiring scrambling or specialist gear, and on clear days you can see right across Fife and into Perthshire. It's the sort of place where you actually feel like you've climbed something without spending six hours on your feet.

Getting up takes maybe 45 minutes to an hour depending on fitness and how often you stop. The path itself is straightforward enough, though it can get boggy after rain - proper footwear matters. Once you're there, the vistas make the effort worthwhile. The Tay snakes below, farmland spreads out in every direction, and if the weather plays ball you'll spot the Ochil Hills in the distance.

This suits walkers who want a genuine climb without the commitment of something like Ben Lomond, and families with older kids will manage it fine. You won't find facilities at the top - bring water and snacks. It's free, obviously.

If you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Greenhill Farm Glamping is closest at just over two miles away - this makes an excellent morning walk before heading into Perth or exploring further up Perthshire. It's not a destination you'd travel two hours for, but bundled into a park holiday in the area it's a cracking use of a couple of hours.
