Little Hill

Little Hill sits just outside Much Wenlock, and it's one of those modest peaks that rewards you far more than its 300-odd metres suggests it should. The walk up takes maybe twenty minutes from the car park, and the views across the Shropshire landscape open out properly once you're near the top - you get the Wrekin dominating the horizon, and on a clear day the Welsh hills blur into the distance.

It's not dramatic, and that's rather the point. Families with younger kids will manage it without complaint, and it's the sort of walk where you can chat the whole way up rather than huffing and puffing. The summit itself is bare moorland with a trig point, and it feels properly wild for something so accessible.

The real strength is how it fits into a broader Shropshire walking holiday. You're well positioned for the Irongorge Camping and Sytche Caravan & Camping Park if you're basing yourself around Much Wenlock - both within easy striking distance. If you've got an afternoon spare and don't fancy driving elsewhere, Little Hill does the job. It won't blow your mind, but it's a solid, undemanding outing that gets you out on the hills without any faffing.

Go on a weekday if possible. The car park fills up with day-trippers at weekends, and the paths get a bit tedious when they're rammed.
