What you get instead is a genuine escape, the sort of place locals know about and visitors stumble upon by accident.

The copse works brilliantly as a morning walk if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan sites - ScottsHaven or Rookesbury Park are both within four miles, or there's Glamping at Wallops Wood if you want something more upmarket. Allow an hour to wander through without rushing, though you could knock it out in thirty minutes if you're just after fresh air between other activities.
