Link Common

A few miles outside Malvern, Link Common is one of those proper wild spaces that sneaks up on you if you're not careful. It's a nature reserve rather than a manicured tourist spot, which means you get genuine woodland and grassland without the gift shop. The whole thing feels genuinely un-fussed-about in the best way possible.

You'll find yourself walking through scrubby heath and mature trees with actual birdsong happening - none of that silence you get in visitor-heavy places. The paths are reasonably clear if you're paying attention, though it's not a stroll you'd send an uncooperative toddler on. Walkers and anyone keen on spotting butterflies or unusual plants will get the most from it. Bring binoculars if you care about that sort of thing.

There's no visitor centre or café, so come prepared. Best visited in spring or early summer when the whole place comes alive. Winter is fine too if you like stripped-back countryside. Allow a couple of hours to properly explore without rushing.

If you're camped at Out To Grass nearby - that's a cracking spot for glamping - Link Common works as a morning walk or early evening potter without eating your whole day. It's also handy if you're doing the broader Malvern area and fancy something less obviously 'touristy' than the actual Malverns themselves. Worth the drive.
