Lime Kiln

Crumbling red brick kilns scattered across scrubland near Newton Abbot - this is what industrial Devon looks like when nature's finished having its say. The Lime Kiln site tells the story of the region's 18th and 19th century lime-burning trade, when calcining local limestone kept half the county's building work humming along.
