The Lily Pool sits quietly on the outskirts of Evesham, a modest stretch of water that punches above its weight if you catch it right. It's essentially a working gravel pit turned amenity - the sort of place locals have known about for years while visitors drive straight past on the way to somewhere else.

What you get is a proper walk around the water's edge, the sort that takes between 45 minutes and an hour depending on how often you stop. There's something calming about it, especially early morning when the surface is still and the light sits low across the far bank. Bird watchers will find it worthwhile; the open water draws wildfowl through the seasons, and in spring the reeds are thick with activity.

Families with young children might feel it's a bit limited on its own - there's walking and looking, essentially. But it works brilliantly as part of a broader day out in the Vale. The pool feeds into a larger network of countryside rambles around Evesham, and staying at somewhere like Bredon-Vale Caravan and Camping just 2.2 miles away gives you a proper base for exploring. Plum Tree Glamping, with its bell tents and yurt setup, is close enough that you could easily build the pool walk into a longer day's adventure.

Go when the weather's decent and you're not after facilities or crowds. It's free access, quietly understated, and genuinely peaceful. Not Instagram material, but the sort of place that feels like a proper find.
