The walk up Lempit Law takes about forty minutes from the car park, and it's genuinely worth your legs feeling it afterwards. You're looking at a proper hill walk rather than a casual stroll - nothing technical, just relentless uphill through moorland and the occasional bit of boggy ground that'll test your boot choice. The views from the summit sweep across the Scottish Borders toward the Cheviot Hills, and on a clear day you can see far enough to make the effort feel justified. It's the kind of walk where you arrive breathing hard and then stand there grinning at what you've accomplished. Families with older kids will manage it fine, though younger ones might struggle with the climb. The whole thing takes a couple of hours return, so it's not a massive commitment. There's no charge, obviously - it's just a hill. Go when the weather's decent because a windy, wet summit view isn't really a view at all, and the mud underfoot becomes genuinely treacherous. If you're staying at Coldstream Holiday Park, this sits well within a morning or afternoon outing, and it pairs nicely with a poke around Coldstream itself afterwards. The border town has enough going on to fill a few hours - decent pubs, a few shops, that sort of thing. Lempit Law isn't spectacular in the way Ben Lomond is, but it's honest work and the quiet satisfaction you get from reaching the top is proper.
