There's a rather brilliant mural of Ledley King somewhere in Hertfordshire - the former Tottenham defender rendered in street art form - and if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Lee Valley Campsite or Theobalds Park, it's worth tracking down as a quick detour. Street art devotees will get the most from it, naturally, though football fans who remember King's playing days will find it a decent nostalgia hit.

The thing is, a mural is what it is - you'll spend five minutes looking at it, maybe take a photo, and move on. It's free (obviously), and it won't eat into your day. The real value comes if you're already in the area camping or visiting Hertfordshire's other attractions. On its own, it doesn't justify a special trip from London, but combined with Lee Valley's water sports or the open spaces around Fowley Mead Park, it becomes part of a broader wander.

Best visited during daylight hours when the detail reads properly. Winter's not ideal - the light's thin and you'll be cold standing about. Spring or early autumn works well, when you might pair it with a proper walk through the surrounding area. Location-wise, being east of London means it slots neatly into a Hertfordshire park itinerary without requiring backtracking. Not essential viewing, but a solid little find if you're already in the neighbourhood.
