King George V Fields

The reserve appears to be free to access, though it's worth checking locally in Winchester first - these things can change. Allow a couple of hours if you're actually looking at what's about, rather than just marching through.

If you're based at Hookpit Farm Caravan Site or Holden Farm just a few miles out, you've got an easy detour on a quiet afternoon. It works as a proper break from the main Winchester attractions without feeling like you're driving miles. Not spectacular, but genuinely useful if you want to give the kids something a bit different from the usual castle-and-cathedral route.
