Kincraig Hill

Climbing 234 metres above the Fife coast, this modest hill delivers views that punch well above its weight. From the summit, the entire sweep of the Firth of Forth spreads out below, with Edinburgh's skyline clearly visible on good days and the Bass Rock rising from the water like a sleeping whale.

Walkers will find the ascent straightforward enough - it's a proper hill walk but nothing too demanding for anyone with reasonable fitness. The path winds through patches of woodland before opening onto rougher moorland near the top. Allow about two hours for the round trip from Leven, though keen photographers might want longer to make the most of those coastal panoramas.

Families with older children who enjoy a bit of adventure will get plenty from this climb, though it's probably too much for very young ones. The real reward comes at the summit, where you can pick out the holiday parks dotted along the coast below - Elie Holiday Park sits practically at the hill's base, making it an ideal starting point for guests.

Best tackled on clear days when the visibility stretches across the water. The hill forms part of the wider East Neuk exploration, sitting conveniently between St Monans Holiday Park and Leven Beach Holiday Park for those touring the area. It's free to climb, naturally, and accessible year-round, though winter conditions can make the upper sections slippery.
