Kinbuck Community Woodland

A modest woodland walk just outside Dunblane that punches above its weight for a quick forest fix. Kinbuck Community Woodland is the sort of place locals have probably known about for years while the rest of us drive straight past on the A9. The trails wind through mixed woodland with decent height variation - nothing too demanding, but enough to get the legs moving without breaking a sweat.

It's genuinely good for families who want the woods without a full-day commitment. Kids can burn off energy on the various routes, and there's something quite satisfying about a proper forest walk that takes ninety minutes rather than four hours. The trees are mature enough to feel properly immersive, and in autumn the canopy turns into something worth the trip alone.

Walkers heading to or from Craighead Howf - just down the road - would be daft not to work this into the itinerary. It's the kind of place that makes sense as a morning adventure before settling into your holiday park, or a quick circuit if you've got an hour to kill between other plans.

Best to check locally in Dunblane for current access details and parking. The woodland is free - it's very much a community space - but that doesn't mean it's rough around the edges. It's been looked after properly. Soggy after heavy rain, so boots are wise. Go in spring or autumn for the best light filtering through the trees.
