Kendrick's Cave Upper West

Stone Age hunters once sheltered here, and you can still crawl into the same limestone hollow they called home 15,000 years ago. This prehistoric cave sits on the Great Orme's western cliffs near Llandudno, offering a proper glimpse into ancient Welsh life. Archaeological digs have uncovered flint tools and animal bones, making it one of the most significant Palaeolithic sites in Wales.

Reaching the cave requires a decent walk along the coastal path - not one for pushchairs or anyone with dodgy knees. The entrance is fairly small, so taller visitors will need to duck down to peer inside. Once there, the views across Conwy Bay are cracking, though the cave itself is more of a historical curiosity than a spectacular underground chamber.

History enthusiasts and families with older children who don't mind a trek will find it fascinating. The site is free to visit, being part of the Great Orme Country Park, though there's no interpretation boards so you'll want to read up beforehand.
