Jubilee Hill

The walk up Jubilee Hill takes you through proper Surrey woodland before opening onto a modest summit with decent views across the county. Nothing dramatic - you won't find yourself gasping at a vista that stretches twenty miles - but on a clear day you get a genuine sense of elevation and a fair bit of green rolling away beneath you.

It's a straightforward outing from Farnham, the sort of place that works well if you're staying nearby at Tilford Woods Lodge Retreat and fancy stretching your legs without committing to a full day hike. The ascent isn't steep enough to punish anyone, though children under six might find the walk tedious rather than exciting. Thirty minutes up, half an hour to look around and catch your breath, then back down - budget ninety minutes if you're not stopping for photos.

What you get here is local rather than spectacular. The appeal lies more in the walking itself than the destination. Ancient woodland, birdsong, occasionally muddy paths depending on the season.
