Jesus' Thimble

The walk up Jesus' Thimble is properly knackering, but that's rather the point. This stubby peak near Stirling packs more punch than its diminutive name suggests - you're looking at views across the Lowlands that stretch all the way to the Campsies on a clear day. The summit itself is a rocky outcrop with just enough room to stand and feel smug about the climb. It's the sort of place where you'll pass fell runners jogging down whilst you're still clawing your way up, which is annoying but also oddly motivating.

The route isn't long - maybe forty minutes to the top if you're reasonably fit - but those Scottish paths have a way of being steeper than they look on paper. Wear proper boots. Families with confident walkers will manage it fine; small children might find it a slog. History types won't find much at the summit itself, though the area around Stirling has plenty of castles and battlefields if you want to pair this with some proper sightseeing.

It's free to walk, obviously, and there's no specific visitor infrastructure up top - just wind and views. Best tackled on a dry day when visibility isn't compromised. The WHW Hotel & Campsite is only a few miles away, making this a decent morning excursion if you're basing yourself there for a park holiday. Don't expect a destination in itself, but as part of a wider Stirling area explore, it's well worth the walk.
