Jenkin's Hill

The walk up Jenkin's Hill rewards you with one of the better viewpoints across Bracknell Forest, assuming the weather plays ball. It's modest as peaks go - you won't need hiking boots or a packed lunch - but the effort to get up there is worth it for the views across the woodland canopy and into the valleys beyond.

This is proper walking territory rather than a casual stroll. The terrain gets steep in places, and if you're visiting with younger children, factor in extra time for stops. The summit itself is fairly open, which means you actually get to see something rather than being swallowed by trees.

The approach works well as part of a larger loop around Bracknell Forest. Pair it with time at Warfield Park just down the road - that's genuinely one of the better holiday bases in the area, with decent facilities and the forest right on your doorstep. Scotlands House Campsite, about six miles away, is another solid option if you want something slightly more low-key.

Go on a clear morning before the cloud rolls in, and allow a couple of hours for the walk itself. The whole outing becomes something you'd actually remember rather than just tick off. It's the sort of place that makes sense if you're already staying nearby rather than a dedicated trip from London, but it's a cracking spot to fill a morning.
