Jeffrey's Copse

You won't find crowds at Jeffrey's Copse, which is rather the point. This small woodland near Farnham is the sort of place locals know about and visitors stumble upon by accident - a proper slice of Hampshire forest that feels quieter than it has any right to be, given how close it is to town.

It's ideal for a gentle woodland walk rather than anything demanding. The trees are dense enough to feel like you've properly left civilisation, even though you're minutes from Farnham's shops and pubs. Dog walkers love it, families with younger kids do well here for an hour or so, and anyone after a bit of peace to clear their head will find it. The paths are straightforward enough - nothing technical, just woodland.

If you're staying at Feather Down Manor Farm just down the road, this makes an excellent morning walk before breakfast or a late afternoon wander when the light gets nice. The two work well together - a proper country break where the accommodation and natural space feel like a proper pairing.

There's no visitor infrastructure to speak of, which means bring water and don't expect facilities. It's free to access and you can come and go as you please. Spring's the obvious choice if you want to catch the woodland floor at its best, but honestly, it's worth a walk in any season. The copse is small enough that you won't spend hours here, but it's exactly the sort of place that makes a day feel properly rural.
