Irish Stone

The Irish Stone sits quietly on the Culloden battlefield near Inverness, a modest but deeply moving memorial to the Irish soldiers who fell during the 1746 battle. It's one of several clan and regimental stones scattered across the moor, each marking where men died defending the Jacobite cause. You won't find crowds here - most visitors rush past to read the larger monuments, which makes it all the more worth seeking out.
