Invereshie and Inshriach National Nature Reserve

The reserve sprawls across 3,500 acres of proper Highland wilderness - Scots pine forest, moorland, and wetland all tangled together in ways that feel genuinely wild. Access is free, and the reserve is managed by Scottish Wildlife Trust. It sits just outside Aviemore, making it a natural fit alongside a stay at nearby Dalraddy Holiday Park. That location puts you within easy reach of both this reserve and the broader Cairngorms landscape. Winter can be muddy underfoot; spring and autumn are cleaner.
